Out of ICU

Yeahh!! Kent has been moved out of ICU and is now in rehab. I am not sure, but I think they have removed his treach, but he can talk now, whether they did or not. So he is doing very well. And I just wanted to give everyone a gentle reminder that now is when he needs visitors the most, so if you have an afternoon free, please buzz on down to see him, family support will really help in his recovery!!

Update

So here is another update on Kent. He is doing really well again, he is responding normally and can follow any instructions they give him. They are going to start working on his vocal cords today to see if they can get him talking. He has been up and walking a little bit every day. He can stand up long enough to take a shower and has gained a little bit of independance. At this point, he is now cognizant enough to be bored, so is watching movies. He does have a blood infection (MRSA), which the heavy antibiotics needed for that, caused him to get C-DIF(which is expected) (which was causing the bowel problems) but they have switched anitbiotics and those been resolved. Melanie flew up a few days ago and Chad is driving up today, so give them a call today if you would like to hear more.

Just some fun pictures

Here are some fun photos from the last couple of weeks. Chad built AnniePearl a sandbox for our small deck, and she has been putting it to good use, getting absolutly filthy by the end of the day. Oh well, I guess it't not fun if it's not dirty!!

And as for Kent, he has still not completely recovered from his setback. It was an infection and they are doing everything they can to help him recover. He is not as resposive as he was and they have delayed his moving out of ICU. He was doing extremely well before that, but even then he had a very long road ahead of him. His recovery has just been set back by a few weeks.

Kent Update

We received a phonecall this morning from Sally at LDS, and Kent has had a set back from yesterday. Last night his blood pressure dropped and they are now giving him meds to bring it back up. His heart rate has gone back up, and they are looking into the cause. Right now they are not sure, but they think it may be an infection. Russell is at the hospital with him right now, and we will be finding out from him and will spread the news. This is all we know at this point. He is not is any danger, but has just taken one step back, which the staff at LDS has told us may happen. So just keep Kent in your thoughts and prayers today.
